Hey Guys,

We are changing the weekly footy structure to help break up the long season, have some fun, and help grow numbers!!  From now until the Central Tournament July 11th, all Wednesdays will be social events (ideas include Rock Climbing with Parham, Gocart racing with Jordan, game watching at the Phoenix... Top Golf... Indoor Skydiving??)!  We are also kicking off another Sunday Metro season leading up to the Texas Cup, in Austin, June 27th... Next Wednesday will be the first social event held at Karbach where we will have captains draft teams.  

Drinking will commence around 6:30pm with the draft kicking off around 7:30 to allow people plenty of time to get there and have a few drinks.  This is social event so use it as a chance to recruit... invite friends, family, potential players, and wear your Lonestars gear!  

The Metro games will be held at 5pm Sundays (6/7, 6/14, 6/21) at Bendwood Park. These will be our only footy sessions of the week so round up the numbers and try to make it out in preperation for the Texas Cup!  

If you can't make Wednesday and want to play in the Metro games or you know you'll be unavailable for the games, please let me know either way... 830-237-7158 so we can make sure it's known on Wednesday when picking.

It was disappointing Texas Cup in Austin was cancelled last weekend due to all the rain, however a bunch of battle-ready Lonestars made the best of a nice day at Bendwood Park on Saturday playing a tightly contested Metro.  The reds were lead by veteran Matty Stevens and the Blues by rising star Perham, the Blues prevailing with a strong last quarter in a solid 10-a-side contest.  

Some stand-out performances on both sides particularly Josh Devlin in the ruck showing poise and agility in a great contest with a very resolute Beers.  Perham and Mash dominated the centre corridor, with Nick Maas and Bren running rings around their opponents around the ground.  Matty L was solid up forward kicking 4 goals for the Blues.  The reds had solid input from Matt Stevens and Jessie in midfield and with Rick being a strong target up front the Reds were even with the Blues up until the last quarter.  The Blues used the ball more smartly in the last quarter to run out victors by a couple of goals.  Afterwards a few beers were enjoyed on the new Karbach restaurant patio.

Upcoming Games in Austin

After the Texas Cup cancellation last weekend, we will now be playing 2 games in Austin over the coming 6 weeks with the Texas Cup rescheduled to June 27. 

• Sat May 30 - Houston @ Austin -> this will be a great opportunity to take on Austin and give our players a good run after missing last week. Gametime will be set to allow guys to go up and back in a day if they prefer.

• Sat June 27 - Texas Cup @ Austin -> vs Dallas and Austin - rescheduled from Sat May 16.

We are aiming to get a full strength team to both games to prepare for the Central Tournament in Racine in July.  We will also be looking to stamp ourselves as Texas Cup contenders by serving it right up to Austin and Dallas so please make June 27th weekend a priorty of the two.
