Lonestars,
Excited to be heading over to our Squid friends in Ft.Lauderdale again this August. It's always a great, competitive game against them and have come close to beating them on their home turf but believe 2014 is our year!! The Squids also look after us off the field with lots of fun Sat evening at their local pub Maguires. This year's trip promises to be bigger and better with the New York Magpies coming down as well - one of the original and strongest teams in the USAFL and a team we are yet to play. We will also be playing at their full AFL-sized footy stadium!
We love Ft.Lauds and its stunning beach and chilled, old school Florida vibe. It's a great place bring your partner, friends and family or to extend your trip by a few days and explore more of sunny Florida.

Current prices as at June 9 to Ft.Lauderdale:
Southwest - Arr: Thur/Fri, Ret: Sun from $415 r/n
United - Arr: Thur/Fri, Ret: Sun from $499 r/n nonstop and from $255 r/n one-stop
Other - Also can look at flights to Miami airport which is approx. 35 mins south of Ft.Lauds. Miami r/n fares start from $415 nonstop.
**Note: These prices are similar to last year. As a general flight booking rule, around 7 weeks out (end of this month) is the best priced flights. Kayak's price trend is a useful guide.
Accommodation
We all tend to stay around the same area on the beach - enjoying as much beach time as possible before and after the game.
The following are a list of hotels we regularly stay at and current prices/ quality guide:
Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort 4* - A club favorite. Not the cheapest but great rooms, pool, bar/restaurant and location. Great for families. From $199 per night but keep your eye out for specials on various booking websites, especially closer to the date.
Westin Beach Resort 4* - Another club fave near Hilton. From $199pn. Again, keep you eye on prices to come down. Last year some guys booked for $115 pn!
Tropirock 2* - The Lonestars bachelor pad. Just a few blocks behind the Hilton it's a great option if you don't want to break the bank and want to share pizza in bed with Mueller and Fielder. From $79 pn.
Sea Club Resort 3* - Some of the crew have booked here already on a Groupon deal $89-$115 pn. Our Friday night drink spot for the best Pina Coladas in the world!
***Fave hotel booking websites include Booking.com, Priceline and Kayak. If you find any good deals on flights and accom over the next few months please let Sonni know or post in Facebook group event to be created soon.
Funding/Questions
The club is saving the majority of its funds for Nationals in Ohio this October (will let you know travel info for that as soon as we hear from USAFL), however if you would like to come to Ft.Lauds but need some assistance please speak with DB to see where we can help.

It will be Sam Donnelly's 21st birthday celebration too so am sure there will be a few 'Fishbowls' consumed (Sat night of course!)
